    Nelson Takes Maryland State Title

Tiffany Nelson bested fellow Touring Pro Kim Shaw 9-4 in the finals of the event to win the $2000-added Maryland State 9-Ball Championships held at Bill and Billies CuesPort in Arnold, Maryland. This is Tiffany's second State Championship title she has won on the J. Pechauer NorthEast Women's Tour circuit.

Tiffany started her run to her undefeated title with wins over tour newcomer Pamela Treadway, Kathy Friend, and Morgan Steinman. She then played Kim Shaw for the hot seat and won, 7-4.

Kim Shaw posted wins over Kathleen Lawless, Liz Taylor, and a hill-hill match win with Annette Carroll before being sent to the wrong side of the chart by Tiffany. Kim then won 7-3 over Sueyen Rhee to meet up with Tiffany for the finals.

The finals were a bit of a turnaround in the beginning with Kim Shaw jumping out to a 4-1 lead. But an unfazed Nelson put Kim in a full eponymous hold and never let her win another game to win 9-4. Pamela Treadway won her second WPBA Qualifier, this one taking her to the WPBA US Open in October in Albuquerque, NM.

JPNEWT wishes to thank Room Owner Kurt Ziem and Room Manager Richard Moliniero, as well as their gracious staff, for hosting the event at their wonderful room. JPNEWT also thanks Pechauer Cues for their continuing support.

JPNEWT's next event is the $2000-added NY State 9-Ball Champiopnships on October 1st and 2nd at Michelle's Billiard Caf? in Baldwinsville, NY. This event will feature TWO WPBA US Open Qualifiers eligible to the two highest finishing Amateur/Semi-Pro players.
