    Alex Pagulayan
Schmidt and Pagulayan in Reno finals

The Reno Open at the Sands Regency Hotel and Casino in Reno Nevada is now down to the final two players of Alex Pagulayan and John Schmidt.

Schmidt is undedeated in the event, with wins over such notables as John Horsfall, Jose Parica and Shawn Putnam. Schmidt has not allowed an opponent more than three games against him in the last three sets.

Pagulayan lost early in the event to Jose Parica, but has bulldozed his way through the one-loss side to get to the finals. Pagulayan has won 11 straight matches leading up to the finals, and has taken down such notables as Max Eberle, Chris Szuter and Shawn Putnam.

The final match gets underway at 3:00pm Pacific Time and is a true double elimination match, which means Pagulayan will have to defeat Schmidt twice for the win. The winner of the final match will pocket $12,000, while the second place finisher will settle for $6,400 in prize money. Check out our online brackets for complete results from the final 128 players and discuss the event in our online forums.
