It is that time of the year again. March Madness is in full force, The Rock is gearing up to lay the smack down at Wrestlemania and become the undisputed World Heavy Weight Champion, and most importantly…it is time to announce the grand prize winner of Chef Anton's Original Trick Shot/Betcha Contest. The competition has never been more fierce and the trick shots are becoming more ingenious. In fact, this year for the first time ever, we had a tie. That's right, the Chef's Choice this year is a meal for two. Last month you saw Jeff McCain's Award-Winning Shot; without further ado, here is the other Co-Grand Prize Winner. What do you get when you cross a classic trick shot with a clever twist? You get Charlie Ball's Award Winning Trick Shot called "Lake Placid." I love this shot. This looks like one of the oldest betchas in pool. But, there is a twist. Here is the description as given to me by Charlie Ball. "Set balls as shown. The one and two balls are frozen to the end rail and the three ball is balancing on top. I used to do this shot fifty years ago. You need two tables set approximately five feet away. Strike the cue ball firmly and hit between the two bottom balls. Hit correctly, the three ball will jump to the next table, bank the length of the table, and go into the corner pocket." There it is. For example, the oldest pool betcha known to man is where the three ball are balanced on the end rail in a pyramid configuration, and you bet your mark you can hit the other two balls first. This is exactly what I am interested in finding. So if you know any "grifts", even if they do not apply to pool, send it to me immediately.
