Welcome back to Chef Anton's Magical Menu of Pool Ball Wizardry. This is my first column of 2001 and you know what that means…it is now time for the winners of Chef Anton's Original Trick Shot/Betcha Contest. As a reminder, throughout the year the mailman has been hauling tons of entries into this contest. Those envelopes, which appear to have money in it, are opened and the top three submissions win valuable prizes. Well OK, they are not necessarily valuable, but they are free.

The third place winner is Dean Dubbs - Mason, Ohio. This is a great shot for a number of reasons. First, it is quick and easy to set up, especially with divots. Second, it makes a great betcha. And third, it puts a new spin on an old concept. What a fantastic revelation.

I am proud to present, pool table trickery by Deano. Here is his shot as described by the master. "First of all, set up the balls on the tables as shown in the picture. You have to chip the cue ball over the side of the 1 ball, kick the cue ball off of the far cushion into the other side of the 1 ball pocketing it in the corner. After that you have to make the cue ball carom off the one and pocket the 2 ball in the opposite corner pocket." Wow.

Well, there it is. Congratulations once again to Dean Dubbs. For his efforts, Dean will receive a free autographed color 8x10. Be sure and keep your entries coming…next year's contest is only 1 year away.

Thanks and Bon Appetit.

SEND A BETCHA OR AN ORIGINAL TRICK SHOT AND WIN A FREE VIDEO

I need your help. I am in search of learning every "betcha" in existence. For example, the oldest pool betcha known to man is where the three ball are balanced on the end rail in a pyramid configuration, and you bet your mark you can hit the other two balls first. This is exactly what I am interested in finding.

So if you know any "grifts", even if they do not apply to pool, send it to me immediately. I will give an autographed video for every "betcha" sent to me that I have not seen before. If you are not sure if I have seen it or not, send it anyway. Please e-mail me at chefantons@aol.com or mail your entries to:
