Welcome back to Chef Anton's Magical Menu of Pool Ball Wizardry. This is my first column of 1999 and you know what that means…it is now time for the winners of Chef Anton's Original Trick Shot/Betcha Contest. As a reminder, throughout the year the mailman has been hauling tons of entries into this contest. Those envelopes, which appear to have money in it, are opened and the top three submissions win valuable prizes. Well OK, they are not necessarily valuable, but they are free

The third place winner is Craig Wilkening of Smyrna, GA. There are a number of effective ways to shoot this shot. First, is the one rail kick off the short rail. Second, is the natural three rail kick. Third, is the kick off the tit of the corner pocket. Fourth, is a treacherous masse. Fifth, and perhaps not last, is Craig ingenious 4 rail kick shot. Although this is an unusual kick shot, it has practical purposes, at least as a unique bar bet. Provided you can run quickly. Here is the shot as described by the master himself…

Place the cue ball and lock it on the inside rail as far as you can without the cue ball falling in the hole (cue ball is totally blocked by the tit of the corner pocket) Place the 9-ball in the opposite bottom corner pocket. Hit the cue ball firmly with high right hand english. The cue ball travels around the table striking 4 rails and pockets the 9-ball in the corner pocket.

Well, there it is, Craig Wilkening's 4 Rail Kick Shot. For his efforts, Craig will receive a free autographed color 8x10. Be sure and keep your entries coming…next year's contest is only 1 year away.

Thanks and Bon Appetit.

SEND A BETCHA OR AN ORIGINAL TRICK SHOT AND WIN A FREE VIDEO

I need your help. I am in search of learning every "betcha" in existence. For example, the oldest pool betcha known to man is where the three ball are balanced on the end rail in a pyramid configuration, and you bet your mark you can hit the other two balls first. This is exactly what I am interested in finding.

So if you know any "grifts", even if they do not apply to pool, send it to me immediately. I will give an autographed video for every "betcha" sent to me that I have not seen before. If you are not sure if I have seen it or not, send it anyway. Please e-mail me at chefantons@aol.com or mail your entries to:
