Shot #2 $20 Betcha

By Chef Anton

Greetings Scoundrels,

Welcome to the first edition of my new column called The School for Scoundrels. This column will feature the world's greatest hustles, swindles, and billiard brain teasers. You will receive a number of benefits including the ability to:

  • Fool and Amaze Your Friends
  • Never Pay for a Drink Again
  • Protect Yourself from Someone Who Has Read This Column.
This month's shot is featured in The Pool Hustler's Handbook.

Proposition: Make the 8-ball in Pocket X under these conditions:

  1. The 1-ball must remain on top of the $20 bill.
  2. You cannot jump over the 1-ball.
  3. You cannot curve around the 1-ball.
  4. You cannot hit a rail.

Difficulty Rating: 1

Origin:

Based on principles in Fred Hermann's 1902 book entitled Tricks and Games on the Pool Table.

Set-Up:

Place the cueball about one foot in front of a side pocket and the 8-ball in the jaws of the opposite side pocket. Now lay a $20 bill in the center of the table as diagrammed. Place a 1-ball on it.

90° and 30° Rule Review
This article summarizes my previous six articles dealing with the 90° and 30° rules. Hopefully, by seeing all of the results in one place, knowing when and how to apply each rule will become clearer.
Breaking To Win
When most amateur's break, they try to smash the cue ball as hard as they can and watch the eight ball to see if it is going in a pocket...
“Pro-Cut” Pockets: Does Tight Make Right?
The term “pro-cut pockets” has been floating around for a while now.
Worse is Better
There’s something to be said about practicing and competing under controlled environments where your opponent is respectful and everything is pristine, but welcome to the real world.
