Shot #16 A Practical Shot in 8-Ball (solution)

By Chef Anton

Secret:

The rules of 8-ball dictate, following a foul, the cueball has to cross the headstring in order to make a legal shot on a ball inside of the kitchen. Therefore, it is perfectly legal kick the 8-ball in by hitting the long rail just on the other side of the headstring and then use inside English to bring the cueball back.

Execution:

Use extreme high, inside English. Do not shoot too hard or the spin will not have chance to take. Aim to hit the long rail just on the other side of the long rail. The inside English will cause the cueball follow the dotted line in the diagram.

Trick of the Trade

There are two other options for this shot. First, you can shot the one-rail kick, but it takes a lot of spin. Although the two-rail kick looks harder, it is actually quite a bit easier.

The second option is to shoot a treacherous masse shot. However, if you are good enough to do that on a regular basis, your opponent will need the drink you are winning.

Happy Hustling

I need your help. I am in search of learning every billiard brain teaser in existence. For example, the oldest pool billiard brain teaser known to man is where the three ball are balanced on the end rail in a pyramid configuration, and you bet your mark you can hit the other two balls first. This is exactly what I am interested in finding.

So if you know any hustles, even if they do not apply to pool, send it to me immediately. I will give an autographed copy of The Pool Hustler's Handbook for every billiard brain teaser sent to me that I have not seen before. If you are not sure if I have seen it or not, send it anyway. “Dead Stroke” vs. “In Stroke”
Once in a while, and always unexpectedly, I experience being in “dead stroke.”
What Are The Differences In Pool Balls?
Yes, there are definitely differences in not only the brands of pool balls on the market, but also in the styles offered by the single leading brand.
90° and 30° Rule Review
This article summarizes my previous six articles dealing with the 90° and 30° rules. Hopefully, by seeing all of the results in one place, knowing when and how to apply each rule will become clearer.
Breaking To Win
When most amateur's break, they try to smash the cue ball as hard as they can and watch the eight ball to see if it is going in a pocket...
“Pro-Cut” Pockets: Does Tight Make Right?
The term “pro-cut pockets” has been floating around for a while now.
