Best Break

Francisco 'Django' Bustamante is known for many things. Being the first player to win events in 8,9 and 10-Ball in one season on the Camel Pro Billiards Series, Winning the $50,000 Challenge of Champions this year and his tendency to shoot shots behind his back are all things Django is known for. He is also known for his amazing breaking ability.

Described as "funny, outgoing and a class act" by his peers, Francisco may not have the fastest break in the world, and he may not do everything exactly like we have all learned that we are supposed to when breaking, but there is no doubt that he has a powerful break. This break led to Francisco's utter domination of the Camel Pro Billiards Series in 1998 and also his run to the #2 spot on the points list this year.

Earl Strickland acknowledged Francisco as having the best break on the tour in a recent interview. Pat Fleming at Accu-Stats says Francisco makes a ball on the break 70%-75% of the time. This is compared to approximately 60% by most professional players. When Team Phillipines won the Championship of World Team Billiards in 1993, who do you think was their 'designated breaker'? Of course, it was Django.

So, it should come as no surprise that when the pros placed their votes for best break, they chose Francisco Bustamante.
