Nick Varner is a busy man, playing on both the Senior Tour and the Camel Pro Billiards Series in 1999. Varner was ranked third in 1998 on the Camel Pro Billiard Series and finished the 1999 year at 19. This four-time Player of the Year, two-time U.S. Open winner, five-time world champion, and BCA Hall of Famer (Inducted in 1992), recently designed a Varner Signature Line of Cues and in the midst of all this, he won the World Championships in Alicante, Spain earlier in December.

Voted number 14 Player of the Century by Billiards Digest, Varner is a true man of the sport of pool. His gum chewing and great pool-playing style has been recognized for years by many fans across the world. Described by his peers as 'a nice, friendly' guy, Nick has won many, many titles throughout his career. One of the top players on the tour described Nick this way; "Although be may not have the most natural talent of all the players out there, Nick is constantly practicing and working on his game and is a very dangerous match at any time.".

His peers voted him as the best competitor. We agree. He gives his best effort no matter the conditions, no matter who he is playing and no matter if he is in the loser's bracket or on the receiving end of a losing match. He gives it his all each time he plays a match.

Reached recently for a comment on winning this award, Nick commented, "That's a nice compliment from everyone.... means I try hard to win." Nick is truly one the great ambassadors of the game!
