What are the Players Choice Awards?

The Players Choice Awards is an end-of-year awards program based on the opinions of the top professional male players in the world.

Who voted on the awards?

We surveyed over 60 of the top touring professionals using an anonymous ballot system to allow them to give their honest opinions as to who they thought the best male players in 8 different categories were. The only person who had a vote that was not a touring professional was Camel Pro Billiards Series Tournament Director Scott Smith.

What are the categories?

The categories are...

  1. Player Of The Year
  2. Best 9-Ball Player
  3. Best Money Player
  4. Best Break
  5. Breakout Player (The player who broke away from the pack and made a name for themselves in 1999)
  6. Rookie Of The Year
  7. Player To Watch Next Year
  8. Best Competitor (The player who gives it their all no matter what the match score or situation)

Why ask the players?

Who best to know who the best players are in the world, than the best players in the world?

Can I find out who a particular player voted for?

No, the players were not asked to sign the surveys so we have no idea who each player voted for.

So, what do the players win?

We will present each winner with a plaque commemorating their win. More importantly, they get the satisfaction of knowing they were considered the best by their peers.

OK, who won each category?

We will announce each category seperately in the following order.

Before we announce the winner of a category, we will post a new survey on the main page of AzBilliards with the top 3 finalists in that category. We will run the survey for a couple days to get the fans opinion and then we will announce who the players chose as the winner.

We would like to thank the good folks at billiardstore.com for helping to sponsor the players choice awards this year.
