Even with US60 being partially closed on the East side, 28 ladies were ready to play – and play they did! Not only was this the fist tour stop for season VII, we welcome a first time host site. Roy and Julie were great hosts, they have friendly and on the ball staff. Included in the great hospitality at Famous Sam’s, Roy and Julie had their tables recovered the day before our tournament. Thank you from all the AWBT ladies who played in the tournament.

The AWBT welcomes two new members – Ann Sanchez from Mesa and Cathy Thomas from Sacaton. Congratulations for joining a great bunch of lady pool players.

With a field of 28, sorting out the players down to the final 8 took some time. Dianne Smith, one of our new members from the Pocket’s event in Tucson in June, was in the top 4 on the A side, along with Toni Officer, Liz Bernreuter and Susan Mello. The top 8 was rounded out by Madelyn Roberts, Meiko Yamanobe, Jean Vaillancourt and Susan Williams on the B side. Finishers on Saturday night in the 9th through 12th bracket, for a payoff of $19 each, were Judi Wickelgren, Marita Incalcaterra, Michaele Kedanis and Traci Thomas. At the end of the day on Sunday, 7th/8th finishers were Jean Vaillancourt and Madelyn Roberts ($38 each), 5th/6th place finishers were Meiko Yamanobe and Susan Williams ($62 each), Liz Bernreuter 4th ($96), Susan Mello 3rd ($134), Dianne Smith for 2nd ($182), and Toni Officer for 1st ($270). Toni Officer and Dianne Smith met to determine who would be in the hot seat. Dianne wanted a re-match with Toni, so she beat her next opponent (Susan Mello) to meet Toni in the match.

Sunday heralded the return of 15 ladies to compete in the Second Chance Tournament. Diana Clayton got to the hot seat and waited for her opponent. Judi Wickelgren finished 3rd for a payout of $15. Diana Clayton won with a payout of $55, with Yevette Johnson receiving $30 for 2nd.
