Super Bowl weekend found 34 ladies in a super J. Pechauer Custom Cues sponsored qualifier for the AWBT at Mainstreet Billiards in Tucson, Arizona.

Mainstreet Billiards hosted the event and provided 11 tables for the tournament. The AWBT would like to thank Mainstreet and all of the great staff for yet another successful event.

The AWBT welcomed 7 new members at this qualifier, two of which returned on Sunday in the main event. Phoebe Choy from Hawaii, returned on the winners side, and Jane Fujinaga from California returned on the one loss side.

Returning also on the winners side were, Angel Paglia , Kristin Haney , and Liz Bernreuter and on the one loss side, Susan Williams , Diana Clayton , and Annie Gray .

Liz and Phoebe matched up first thing on Sunday and Phoebe moved on to the hot seat match with a victory of 7-1. Kristin and Angel also went head to head finding Angel victorious with a 7-0 win.

On the one loss side Susan and Jane continued the fight with 7-6 and 7-6 wins respectively. Congrats to Anne and Diana for sharing 7th/8th place.

Liz met up with Susan and Kristin matched up with Jane next. These matches placed Liz and Kristin in the 5th/6th positions. Great playing ladies.

Jane put Susan in 4th place with a 7-6 win and then faced Angel for a chance to play in the final match.

As the final match began, the crowd congratulated Angel for taking 3rd place. Nice shooting Angel! Phoebe was sitting in the hot seat so Jane needed to win 2 matches to be the tournament champ and win the WPBA qualifier spot. Phoebe put a stop to Jane immediately with a 7-5 win. Congratulations to two of our newest members, Jane for a fine 2nd place finish and to Phoebe for winning her first AWBT event and a spot in an upcoming professional event.

SECOND CHANCE EVENT

The Second Chance Competition brought back 14 ladies in a race to 4. Susan Mello took the hot seat while Tracey Elliot and Marita Incalcaterra met up for a 3rd place finish. Congrats to Marita for her 3rd place showing.

Fighting for 1st place was Susan and Tracey. In a race to 4, Tracey won the first set and the second chance event win went to Tracey in the second of two matches. Congratulations to Susan for 2nd place and to Tracey for winning the second chance tourney.
