Kolby's bustled with excitement on the morning of November 23 as the ladies began filling in from all over the country. Some traveled from Iowa, Michigan, and Missouri, of course the majority were Arizona residents. That is, after all, one of the main reasons the AWBT was originally formed.......to give ladies in the Arizona region an opportunity to play competitively close to home. Thirty-five ladies came to compete with the AWBT, some to tone their skills to take them to the next level, some to play for a nice piece of the $750.00 added from Kolby's, and others to give themselves a "once in a lifetime" chance to play with the pro's.

Those ladies that were interested in competing for the Qualifier spot, paid an extra $25 for eligibility. Everyone that played was eligible for the prize pool. What a fantastic payout!!! Between the added money and 100% of the entry fees going into the prize pool, the weekend turned out to be not only challenging for the competitors, but rewarding too. As always, the AWBT paid the top 1/2 of the field.

Kristin forged through the crowd and took top honors at this event. Usually classified as a top bar box player, but proving she is a formidable  opponent in any game on the table. She has a freewheeling spirit that shines through in her stroke. Her finish puts her into second place on the points list.

The second place finisher at this event, Nina , won her second 2003 WPBA Qualifier in a row from the AWBT! In the last two events, she said she just "got lucky", but we all know there's little luck when it comes to playing fantastic pool. Good luck Nina in 2003.

Susan Mello, with her third place finish, was put into the points leader position at the end of 2002. For her fine performance, she is being allotted entry into all 2003 WPBA Classic Tour events. The top finisher of each of the regional tours around the country was provided this honor as a reward for their performance at the regional level. Good luck to Susan in 2003.

We also held an extremely successful break contest, in which we gave away a ton of great prizes including the BIG draw - a J. Pechauer Custom Cue valued at $300.00 . The winner of the cue was Nick DeLeon. At our next event, at Main Street Billiards (Tucson) in January, we will again be giving away a cue in our contest.
