Saturday, March 22, found the Arizona Women's Billiard Tour at a new host site and a relatively new location in Tempe, AZ. Landshark Billiards welcomed the AWBT for an 8-ball event on 10 or their 12 7-ft. tables. The ladies raced to 5 on both the a and b sides so there was great competition to be found over the weekend.< p> When the dust settled on Saturday evening, the final eight set to play on Sunday were as follows: On the no-loss side-Susan Mello, Katie Gray, Marney Teague and Meiko Yamanobe and on the one loss side - Susan Williams , Judi Wickelgren, Kristin Haney and Diana Clayton.

Continuing with no losses after the first rounds on Sunday were Susan M and Marney. At the same time Diana and Judi finished up in 7th/8th place. Katie and Kristin took 5th/6th while Susan W. matched up against Meiko in a battle that went 5-3 in Susan's favor. Congrats to Meiko with a 4th place finish.

Susan M. waited in the hot seat while Marney and Susan W. played a match to see who would move on to the final round. Susan continued on to meet up with Susan M. as Marney was praised for a great tournament and taking 3rd place.

With a 5-3 first match win, Susan M. captured the Landshark's 8-ball event. Congratulations to Susan W., who took 2nd place and to Susan M. for winning the tournament.

Two new members joined the tour at this event. Sonia Champion and Melissa Champion. Welcome to the AWBT ladies.

2ND CHANCE EVENT

The 2nd chance tourney began with 11 returning ladies. In a race to 3, Dawn Anderson and Liz Bernreuter played a match which put Dawn in the 3rd place spot.

Liz met up with Dee Gibson for the final match. Liz, coming from the one-loss side would have to defeat Dee twice for a championship.

Liz won the event with 3-2 and 3-1 wins over Dee. Congratulations to Dee for her 2nd place finish and also to Liz for winning the 2nd chance tourney.
