December 2nd and 3rd found 38 ladies competing for the AWBT 8-Ball event of the season. A big Thank you to Pink E’s for hosting the tournament and adding $500.
Saturday ran smoothly as play got underway. The ladies played a race to 4 on both sides. On Sunday morning we had the final eight returning. On the winner’s side were Jean Vaillancourt, Mary Beth Johnson, Angel Paglia and Grace Cayco. Meiko Yamamnobe-Pollard, Susan Mello, Kathy Crout and Janine Robinson came back on the one loss side.
Susan and Janine were victorious in their first rounds leaving Meiko and Kathy sharing 7th/8th place. In the meantime, Jean and Angel also won their first round of the day putting Mary Beth and Grace on the one loss side. Grace was successful to move on to the next round by defeating Janine but Susan stopped Mary Beth. Congratulations to both Mary Beth and Janine for their 5th/6th place finish.
Susan and Grace met up to determine who would leave with a 4th place finish. Although Susan lost her first round of the tourney, she showed everyone that she was going to hang tough by moving on to the final three. Great finish Grace with 4th place!!
Meeting up for the hot seat was Angel and Jean. After a great battle Jean found herself still on the winner’s side waiting for the final match of the event.
Susan and Angel met up to determine who would leave in third place. Angel was coming off the AWBT Arizona State 9-Ball Championship title in October and pulled it out again. Congratulations to Susan for a terrific 3rd place finish.
Angel must have been on a roll because she won the event by beating Jean 2 sets in a row. Congratulations to both ladies, Jean for 2nd place and Angel for winning the season finale.

The AWBT held their traditional “no entry fee second chance tournament” on Sunday, and 23 of 30 ladies showed up to play.
The event was 8-ball, race to two and the ladies played fiercely. LeeAnn Smith and Susan Wilbur fought it out on the one loss side leaving LeeAnn in 4th place. Susan went on to play Margie Stephanik and continued her approach to the top placing Margie in 3rd place. Meanwhile Rosie Murphy was sitting in the hot seat waiting for her competitor. Along comes Susan, defeating Rosie two times to win this event. Congratulations to Rosie for her 2nd place finish and also to Susan. Great shooting girl!
A special thanks to everyone contributing to make this event possible.
Congratulations to Randy Boring who won half the pot in the 3-ball contest that we held at the event. We also gave contest prizes away including Famous Sam’s certificates, golf lessons, lunches from Pete’s, and party passes to the AZ Center.
We would like to welcome and thank our newest sponsors, Fitness I Gym – silver sponsor, and the Williams’ (Susan and Mike) – gold sponsor.
OOOOPS……WE GOOFED!!!
In all the excitement of the State 9 Ball Championship in October, we neglected to mention some very important people in the last newsletter. So we would like to take this opportunity to let you know about them.
We have a few sponsors and even some continuing sponsors that have recently donated to the AWBT. Our newest silver members include Glenn Bond – billiard instructor and Ideal Construction who donated $100, our newest gold sponsor Chris Dunham, multi-million $$ real estate consultant donated $250, and current platinum sponsor Sussex Instrument donated another $500 to the AWBT.
A huge thanks to Glenn Bond, who came to the State Championship event and spent 3 hours giving free billiard advice/lessons. You are awesome Glenn!!
We would also like to mention and thank Dan, from Gateway Computers, for coming to our event and helping the ladies become more computer savvy!!
All of your support is much appreciated.
