Arizona Women's Billiard Tour 1st tour stop of the Fall 2000 season was held at New York West on July 15th and 16th and this was the best showing for a 7-foot table. In all, 41 ladies were in attendance. We added 7 new members, which puts our total to 130 AWBT members. Great Job Girls!

Returning from an eight month hiatus, Jean Vaillancourt was determined to show the Arizona Women's Billiard Tour that the 1st Season Champion is back to play pool. She started off the day right by working her way through to the final 8 on Sunday. The final eight also consisted of Susan Mello, Kristin Haney, Marney Teague, Judi Wickelgren, Sara Miller, Terri Mann, and Diana Clayton.

Sunday was a busy day for the women. Jean started off the day by defeating Marney. She then played an awesome match against Kristin. The match came down to a "hill-hill match" and resulted with Jean being victorious and winning the hot seat. Meanwhile, Susan and Sara defeated Terri and Diana to place them in 7th and 8th place. Then Susan and Marney defeated Sara and Judi to place them in 5th and 6th. The next match was against Marney and Susan. Marney started out strong, but Susan kicked it into gear and won putting Marney in 4th place.

The final three consisted of Jean Vaillancourt, Susan Mello and Kristin Haney. These same three women just happen to be the tour champions from the first 3 seasons. Jean was our tour champion for the 1st season followed by Kristin Haney and Susan Mello respectively.

Susan and Kristin had a great match. Although, Susan was ahead most of the match, we all know Kristin never goes down without a fight. However, Susan hung in there and came out ahead and Kristin finished a strong 3rd place. In the final match Susan defeated Jean in the first match, but since it is a true double elimination she needed to beat her twice. This match was one of the best the tour has ever seen. There were bank shots with shape and kick shots that were right on. Both girls were awesome! Congratulations to Susan Mello for a valiant effort and a great 2nd place finish. Welcome Back Jean!!! Congratulations for winning our 1st tour stop of the Fall 2000 season.

We also had our traditional Sunday 2nd Chance Tournament. With 21 ladies in attendance Tracy Neal finished in 4th place, Grace Cayco in 3rd and Katie Gray in 2nd place. And the winner was…Susan Williams! Thanks to all for taking the time out to come back and support the AWBT.
