December 5, 1998 marked an incredible new beginning for AWBT with a giant success on our inaugural tour event, "Meet the Tour." Players from all over the state, 35 entries in all, filled all 7 bar tables at our host site, Kolby's Corner Pocket, to battle for the first title of the season.

Congratulations to Kristin Haney whose extraordinary performance all day won her a first place finish with 25 tour points. Second place went to Amy Meehan after her tenacious battle through the losers' bracket all the way from the first round. Jean Vaillancourt showcased her talent with a strong finish in third place, and our own AWBT president Nicole McCue certainly made her mark with a respectable fourth place finish.

Our sincere gratitude to Ron Musgraves for his generous support in adding $500.00 for our members, Kolby's Corner Pocket for providing our first tournament site, and Phoenix Custom Cues for donating a $240 custom cue, which was raffled off as a bonus to AWBT members. Members can look forward to this brand new bonus feature of our tour in all of our future tournaments. The lucky winner of the first cue raffle was Yevette Johnson. Traci Thomas also received a cue case through a member only free raffle, courtesy of Nicole McCue. In addition, we are grateful to Sussex Instrument for donating 12 beautiful score boards, New image Pool for their tournament boards, and Linda McCue for directing our tournament. Recognition also goes to our Treasurer, Susan Mello, for her excellent organizational skills in tournament finance and our Secretary and Press Officer, Meiko Yamanobe, for the attractive name plates. Cindy von Hoffmann and Danelle Stulak headed our Ethics and Referee Committees, respectively. And Wendy Carlson and Susan Smith helped run a smooth yet energetic tournament.
