Tournament Winner Susan Mello and Runner-up Susan Williams

The Rack & Q held their 3rd event for the AWBT on August 12th and 13th. A big thanks to Jimmy Joe and his staff for making the weekend a wonderful experience for all that attended.

37 ladies showed up to compete in the second event of the Fall 2000 season. The atmosphere was friendly but the competition was fierce.

After a grueling day of play on Saturday, Sunday brought back the final eight that consisted of Sara Miller, Yevette Johnson, Susan Williams and Mary Beth Johnsen on the one loss side, and on the winners side was Jean Vaillancourt, Judi Wickelgren, Susan Mello and Julie Cowand.

After the first round we bid farewell to Sara and Yevette in 7th/8th place. Next in line to exit was Mary Beth and Julie in 5th/6th.

With the final four ready to go, Jean and Susan Williams played which found Jean in a respectable 4th place. Susan Williams then defeated Judi placing here in 3rd. It came down to the dueling Susan's for the title.

You could hear everyone yelling, "Go Susan" throughout the match. At that point we knew Susan would be victorious. Which Susan, we did not know. As it turned out, it was Susan that won, Susan Mello that is. She defeated Susan Williams in the first match. Congratulations to Susan Williams on a great 2nd place finish and a "Way to Go Susan Mello" for winning the event!

The 2nd chance brought back a great turnout of 23 members. In 4th place was Linda McBride, 3rd was Martha Zanetis, 2nd place went to Janine Robinson, a California member, and a great finish to Meiko Yamanobe-Pollard in 1st place. Great tournament ladies!
