Pockets was a great place to be on June 10th and 11th for the Arizona Women’s Billiard Tour Season Finale. Lenny and his wife Donna went out of their way to make everything run smoothly, and they succeeded. Thanks to Ann Inbody’s family member, Ben Sanders from Choc-a lot, gave the AWBT pounds of chocolate covered strawberries, fudge, truffles and a special made chocolate pool table. We enjoyed it immensely.

Thirty-four women were in attendance and 5 of them were locals from Tucson. Even though things got off to a rough start due to the construction on I-10 every one was in good spirits and raring to go.

After a long day of play the final 8 remaining ladies on the winners side were Susan Mello, Kristin Haney, Katie Gray and Anne Gray. Michaele Kedanis, Diana Clayton, Judi Wickelgren and Kasey Wills were on the one loss side. Tired and full of fudge, we headed off for the Ramada Palo Verde Inn, where the manager was nice enough to keep the kitchen open a little bit longer so we could get a late night meal. Many thanks to Ramada Inn for the great room rate they gave to the AWBT. Sunday the girls were up early to take advantage of the complementary breakfast, and then back to Pockets.

Sunday was a busy day. We had the final 8 returning to finish the main event, 24 ladies returned for the 2nd chance and we were also running a Queen of Hearts event. Because Michaele and Diana won their first matches of the day, Judi and Kasey finished in 7th and 8th place. Susan and Katie won their first matches as well. Kristin won her match with Michaele and Anne won her match over Diana, which slotted Michaele and Diana with 5th and 6th place. Kristin was victorious over Anne who took 4th place, and Katie Gray beat Susan Mello for the hot seat. However Susan's days was far from being over. After taking Kristin in the semi-finals to put her in 3rd place, Susan came back for revenge against Katie. Due to the true double elimination format Susan had to beat Katie twice in the final. That’s exactly what Susan did to knock off the Pocket’s season ending finale and captured the Season III tour championship. WWOOOHHOOOO SUSAN!

In the 2nd chance event, one of our biggest ever, we found Kathy Phelps in 4th place, Susan Wilbur in 3rd, Mary Luke in 2nd and Meiko Yamanobe-Pollard finished 1st. Congratulation for an outstanding tournament and a great Season.
