BCA Open 9-Ball Championships

First round upsets in Vegas.

Kimiko Yamauchi is the woman of the hour.
As is almost always the case in a major billiards event, the first round includes some upsets and it is no different this year in Vegas.

The women's side saw 'Queen of the Hill', Loree Jon Jones get to the hill early but then have to sit as Kimiko Yamauchi ran racks to win the match 9-8.

The men's side was not without it's upset as Takashi Toda defeated Jeremy Jones 11-6. Jeremy was down 4-1 in the match until a push out error by Toda opened the door for Jeremy who won 4 games in a row to take a 5-4 lead. It was just not meant to be however as Toda went on to win the match.

In other action during the first round, Dawn Hopkins defeated Donna Tidwell, Tiong-Boon Tan from Singapore beat Brazilian trick shot champion, Sebastian Giumelli, Kelly Oyama beat Lisa Merkin 9-4 in a match that was not even that close, Paul Potier upset Kim Davenport 11-6, Jon Kucharo beat Kunihiko Takahashi 11-5, and Tiffany Nelson stopped a charging Julie Kelly 9-6.

Playing now are Efren Reyes, Tang Hoa, Ernesto Dominguez, Ewa Laurance and others.
