While 1998 may have been “The Rocket’s” first year on the Camel Pro Billiards Series, the veteran pool player is no rookie. Griffis missed two early tournaments, but finished high in the money at four other contests-with a high finish of fourth in Nashville-to edge out Gerry Watson for the 19th ranking.
Griffis started playing in his early teens when he’d hit balls after football practice. He served in the Air Force for four years, and rediscovered billiards at age 34 when he began playing professionally.
Griffis and his wife, Kirsten, have two daughters. He enjoys basketball, chess, video games and his kids when he is away from the game.
