Basketball with the Pool Pros At the Predator Central FL Open

The pros got in early in Orlando to warm up for the event…Jordan style!

Rodney Morris drove from N.C. and Mika Immonen and Thorsten Hohmann came a few days early. Dave Grossman made a trip from Jacksonville while Johnny Archer flew in from Atlanta. Archer will leave tomorrow for a flight to NC for a nephew graduating and then will fly back again to Orlando for the main event. He flew in just for the basketball game! That’s what we call a basketball fan! (Charlie Williams lives in Orlando so he gets no extra credit.)

6 other fans joined in on the fun as they played with three 4 man teams in a race to 7 points going by ones. The Captains were Archer, Immonen, and Morris. Archer’s Team lost the first game 7-2 to Immonen and Grossman’s team. Then Morris and Williams played against Immonen and Grossman but in the 2nd minute Mika was injured with a busted lip. To his credit, he wanted to continue play but his friends forced him to seek medical attention and that was the end for the Iceman. Mika was substituted, and Morris and Williams Team then proceeded to win 7-3.

In the final round robin game, Morris and Williams Team went on to defeat Archer and Grossman 7-5.

In a bonus game, it was the young vs the old as the young team of pool fans led by Thorsten Hohmann went against Archer, Morris, Grossman, and Williams. The Old Guys won 8-4! (in a heated re-match, the Old Guys won again 11-7)

Thanks to Larry Giles from Central FL TAP and Chief Rowley of the YMCA in Dr.Phillips for helping organizing the game and providing the facility.

The Charity event and ring game starts Thursday at 6pm.
