Conner comes from the west to take Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Series

Nick Conner won five straight on the one-loss side and both sets of a true double elimination final to take the Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Series stop on Sunday, April 17. The $1,000-added event drew 45 entrants to Legend's Billiards in Portsmouth, NH.

Conner won three before being sent to the one-loss side by Laddy Mills, who followed him over when he fell to Ivo Petrov 8-4, from among the winners' side final four. Petrov was joined in the battle for the hot seat by David Hall, who'd defeated Fred Horne 8-3. Hall defeated Petrov 8-5 to gain the hot seat.

Conner opened his five-match march back to the finals with a double hill, 9-2 victory over Frank Rudolph (Rudolph needing to reach 3). He followed it with a shutout over Bob Royer, to pick up Horne. Mills drew Don Clement, who'd gotten by Terry McDermot and Gary Columbie, both 5-3. Mills defeated Clement 6-2, and Conner downed Horne 7-3 to set up a quarterfinal rematch.

Conner won the rematch versus Mills 6-3, and went on to defeat Petrov in the semifinals 6-2. Conner then took the opening set of the true double elimination final 6-5, and completed his streak of seven straight wins with a 6-2 victory that earned him top honors.
