The number of players still alive in the 9-ball division at the Derby City Classic continue to dwindle. With 18 players left, there were only 4 undefeated players; Johnny Archer, Ray Shultz, John Hager and points leader Jose Parica.

Hager handed Parica his first loss of the event and George 'Ginky' San Souci did the same to Ray Schultz leaving 2 players holding on to the chance to buy back in after a loss.

With 14 players left with one loss, Jeremy Jones and Charlie Williams were both eliminated in hill-hill matches. Williams lost to one of the surprises of this event, Russian Evgeny Stalev. Stalez, dubbed 'The Assassin', has been quietly beating almost everyone. He placed 25th in the one pocket event but has been cleaning up in side matches outside of the tournament area.

Another surpise in this event was the early exit of US Open Champion, Earl Strickland. He suffered his first loss to Tommy Stephenson from Hamilton Ohio and his final loss to Lexington All Star Champion, John Brumback from Owenton, Ky.

With Buddy Hall's early exit from the 9-ball division, Jose Parica finds himself in control of the points race and gets closer every round to winning the $5,000 'All Around Champion' award.

Last night's mini tournament was 9-Ball banks which was won by Shawn Putnam by defeating Dee Adkins in the finals. Putnam claimed $800 for first place.
