Saturday February 3, 2001 With the 'All Around Championship' already locked up at The Derby City Classic, Shannon Daulton went ahead and won the 9-Ball title with a 7-5 win over Mika Immonen in the finals. Shannon collected $8000 for the 9-Ball win to add to the $5,000 for the 'All Around' title while Immonen settled for $4,300 for second. The win in the 9-Ball event puts Shannon at the top of the BCA recognized Men's Pointslist as the Derby City Event is the first event on the list for this year.
Shannon Daulton is Derby City 'All Around Champion'! By virtue of his win over Troy Frank in the semi-finals of the Derby City Classic 9-Ball Event, Shannon Daulton is your 'All Around Champion'. Shannon is now playing Mika Immonen in the finals. We will be back one last time tonight with finals results.
Second Derby City 9-Ball Update The Derby City Classic 9-Ball event is now down to 3 players with Mika Immonen guaranteed 2nd place by virtue of drawing the bye for this round. The other two players are Shannon Daulton and Troy Frank. This match will determine the winner of the $5,000 'All Around Champion' award. If Daulton wins, the prize is his. If Frank wins, the prize will go to 9-Ball Bank winner, Jose Parica. Back later with more results.
First Derby City 9-Ball Update of the day.
Shannon helped his cause by handing Johnny Archer his first loss earlier today. At the time of this writing, Shannon was leading 6-3 against Jonathan Pinegar. Besides Daulton and Pinegar, the only remaining players were Mika Immonen who had just eliminated Archer from the event and Troy Frank who drew a bye this round. Archer finished 5th while George San Souci and John Hager finished tied for 6th. If Daulton can defeat Pinegar, he will either need to win his next match or draw the bye (there will be 3 players left) to win the overall title. Last night's mini event was a Viking 9-Ball event and was won by John Brumback with a final match win over Paul Brienza. Brumback collected $800 for the win while Brienza settled for $400. Back later with an update on the next round draw when we could know who the all around champion is. You can read previous reports from Derby City at our Derby City Roundup page. |
