 January 4 - 12, 2002 Executive West Hotel Louisville, Kentucky The 4th annual Derby City Classic has concluded with Mika Immonen getting the 9-ball win although it didn't look like he would. Immonen, who had 6 second place finished last year, was up 6-3 in the race to 7 final when he missed a very makeable 8-ball. His opponent, Buddy Hall, quickly evened up the match at 6-6 but missed a makeable 3 ball in the final rack to let Mika back into the match and that was the break Mika needed to win the match 7-6 and collect the $9000 first prize. Hall settled for $4500. Although he didn't win any of the 3 events, Jose Parica collected the $5000 all around bonus for best finish in all 3 events. We should have complete payouts from all 3 events later next week. |
