![]() January 4 - 12, 2002 Executive West Hotel Louisville, Kentucky The 4th annual Derby City Classic kicks off in Louisville Kentucky today with 263 players competing in the 9-ball bank portion of the event. The 9-ball banks will run until sunday when the one-pocket event begins and the 9-ball event will begin thursday. Although the billiards world's top 9-ball players aren't expected to arrive until later in the event, there is no shortage of talent at the event already. All three winners from last year's tournament, Shannon Daulton, Jose Parica and Buddy Hall are already at the event and participating in the bank event. Other notables are Corey Deuel, Troy Frank, Dee Adkins, Charlie Williams and Marcus Chamat. The three main events are not the only tournaments for the players to compete in. The mini-tournaments begin tonight at midnight with a $1,000 added 9-ball event open to the first 32 players who pay their entry. Another big draw at the event is the action outside of the tournament. This should not fail to please with noted players like Keith McGready and Evgeny Stalev already at the event and ready to go. Accu-Stats will be taping matches at the event but has not had any notable matches to tape yet. |
