 January 4 - 12, 2002 Executive West Hotel Louisville, Kentucky Day three of the 4th annual Derby City Classic is coming to a close with one more round to play tonight in the 9-ball bank competition. Still alive are Dee Adkins who is still undefeated, 2001 All Around Champion Shannon Daulton, Viking Tour star Shawn Putnam who just sent Buddy Hall home in 7th place, Planet Pool tour star Brian O'Donnell, Larry Price and local player Louis D'Marco. Earlier matches today saw Nick Varner handed his first loss by Dee Adkins and his second loss by Shawn Putnam. Last year's winner Jose Parica send Truman Hogue to the seats to watch the rest of the event and was then defeated by Brian O'Donnell. The total payout for the bank pool event will be $23,150 with first place taking $4,500. The main one pocket event started today with 201 players competing. For those players who couldn't wait til today, last night's mini tournament was one pocket and Keith McCready defeated Jose Parica in the finals for the $1000 first prize.
