Important win for Croatia’s Putnik

Ivica Putnik

St. Johann, Austria: Ivica Putnik (CRO) just hammered Mats Nygren (SWE) with 9:3 and made sure that he will stay in the Dynamic Billard Austrian

Open 2013.

Right in his first match, Putnik received a 4:9 defeat from Konrad Piekarski (POL). He entered the loser's side but he did not want to depart from St. Johann without leaving his footprints in the tournament chart. He finished Sergio Lagunas-Moreno (ESP) 9:3 in his next match and then met Nygren. Putnik seemed to be too strong for the Scandinavian. He was always in the lead. At 3:2 for Putnik, he won another three racks in a row to turn the scoreboard to 6:2. Whether Nygren was impressed by that can only be guessed here.

However, there was only one more point in the bag for Nygren. In the end, Putnik won with a solid result of 9:3 and is now looking forward to meet Wojciech Szewczyk (POL) in the next round.

In the match between Dennis Braun (GER) and World Champion Jasmin Ouschan (AUT), the German remained the upper hand and ended all of Ouschan's hopes for this event by defeating her with 9:4. Brown held the keys to this match at all times. After eight racks, he was even leading 8:1 and it looked like Ouschan overslept the beginning of the match. She struggled to stay in the tournament but the lead was too much already. 9:4 was Braun's winning score at the end of the match.
