15th Annual Music City Classic
January 16 - 20, 2002
Job Billiards
Madison, Tennessee

Midway through the final day of the 15th Annual Music City Classic, it looks like there is a chance of a Varner sweep.

Nick Varner has already won the midnight madness event and not only are both he and his wife Toni still alive in their respective divisions, they are now playing as a team in the finals of the scotch doubles event.

Nick started the midnight madness event with an 11-7 win over Travis Stamper and never looked back as he scored back to back 11-1 wins over Jon Hennessee and then Jason Kirkwood. The win was worth $4000 in the winner take all event.

Nick and Toni came together as a team to compete in the scotch doubles event where they will match up with the team of Barry Emerson and Monica Webb in the final. The Varners have already defeated last years winning team of Marcus Chamat and Helena Thornfeldt in a 5-4 match.

In the ladies division, Toni Varner scored an impressive hill-hill win over WPBA player Monica Webb but fell to Amy Acerra 7-5 on the winners side. She then won another hill-hill match, this time over tough regional player Gail Lave. Her next match will be a rematch against Monica Webb with the winner guaranteed 3rd place.

While Toni will be facing Webb in the ladies division, Nick will be facing Webb's partner Barry Emerson in the open division with 3rd place guaranteed to the winner.
