15th Annual Music City Classic
January 16 - 20, 2002 Job Billiards Madison, Tennessee The 15th Annual Music City Classic kicked off wednesday night with 87 players competing for title at JOB Billiards in Madison, Tennessee. Amongst the many returning players from last year are last years champion, Shannon Daulton as well as his opponent in the finals the last two years, Johnny Archer. Daulton handed Archer two losses last year in the event and you can bet that Archer will be looking to even the score this year. Also returning from last year is Marcus Chamat who had a great run in last years event, including a win in the mini-tournament as well as win in the scotch doubles event teamed up with Helena Thornfeldt. Being one of the few pro tournaments played on bar tables, the Music City Classic sees some of the top bar players in the country, including David Matlock who won last nights mini-tournament with a 7-5 win over Johnny Archer in the finals. Matlock also came out on top of the first marquee matchup of the event with an 11-6 win over Jose Parica in the first round. Matlock will face last weeks Derby City Classic banks winner Larry Price in the second round. The event runs all week and concludes this weekend. Friday will see the women's event as well as the scotch doubles event kick off. |
