Although some of the big guns made an appearance at the Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour Stop this weekend at Classic Billiards in Rochester NY, Santos Sambajon seems ready, willing and able to remind them that this is his tour. Santos scored an impressive 9-7 win over Dennis Hatch followed by an even more impressive 9-6 win over reigning World 9-Ball Champion Mika Immonen to end saturday on the winners side. Sambajon will face Canadian star Cliff Thornburn sunday morning.
Other players still alive on the winners side include Earl Strickland who sent Keith McCready to the one loss side with a 9-5 win, and Charlie Williams who scored wins over George San Souci and Ryan McCreesh on saturday.
The one-loss side features matchups between Teddy Garrahan and Dennis Hatch, Keith McCready and Matt Tetreault and Mike Immonen vs Joe Tucker scheduled for sunday morning.
