Sambajon wins at Rhode Island Billiards

January 12&13, 2001
Mike Zuglans Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour open the second half of the season in North Providence, RI with a $1500 added event at Rhode Island Billiards. Anthony Costanzo added the cash and his crew did a great job. 47 Players entered and the play was magnificent.

Saturdays matches were as exciting as any sets could be. We had Santos beating Nelson Oliviera and Carlos Vieria in close matches to go undefeated on Saturday. Jarrod Clowery won all his matches along with Tom "Tommy Gun" D'Alfonso. Karen Corr and Mike Zuglan played the match of the day. With Zuglan leading 8-4 when he missed a tough 6 ball. Karen came to the table and could do no wrong. Before you new it it was Corr breaking at hill hill. She made the one on the break, the two and three followed and a four nine combination to win the match. Karen joined the unbeaten and Mike had to come back Sunday with one loss. Joining him would be Steve Goulding, Matt Tetreault, Nelson Oliveira, Frank Hernandez, Mark Ransom, Carlos Vieria and Jonathan Smith.

Sundays action started at noon. Santos beat Karen, Tommy Gun got Jarrod and Santos then beat Tom D'Alfonso easily to win the "Hot Seat." On the one loss side Corr beat Tetreault then get knocked out by Jarrod Clowery. Clowery then fell to D'Alfonso to set up the finals against Sambajon. Santos was in dead stroke for two days and he was not going to loose a match this tournament. Breaking great and playing better he beat "Tommy Gun" 9-4 to win the championship.

A really nice job was done by Rhode Island Billiards for their second Joss event. Next week we are in Quincy, Ma at the Eight Ball Billiards for a $5000 added event.
