Sambajon repeats on Joss Tour

January 19&20, 2001
Mike Zuglans Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour stop #14 of the season was hosted by Eight-Ball Billiards in Quincy, Ma. This is a pool players must stop when in the Boston area. With great equipment and refreshments for all ages, the people at Eight-Billiards really make you feel great about being there. They also know how to treat 70 great pool players in for a weekend tournament wt. $5000 being added to the purse.

Saturday's action didn't take long to heat up. In the field were players like Sambajon, LaPena, SanSoucci, Saez, Immonen, Corr, Kelly, Zuglan, Garrahan and others that made up this very strong field. Karen Corr and George SanSoucci met up and after Ginky broke and ran he scratched and the next time he got to the table is was 5-1 Corr ending up 9-3 Karen. Mike Zuglan beat Mika Immonen 9-5 while second year tour player Dave Fernandez had his best tournament, starting off beating Marty Herman easily.

Fernandez from Northfield, Vermont along with Mike Zuglan, Robbie Saez, Al Lapena, Karen Corr, Frank Hernandez, Joey Korsiak and Santos Sambajon were undefeated for the day. On the one loss side we had Joe Tucker, Carlos Vieria, George SanSoucci, Mike Immonen, Marty Herman, Teddy Garrahan, Ryan McCreesh and Mike Yamauchi.

Zuglan avenged his loss last week to Corr 9-5, while Santos beat Joey "K" and then Zuglan. Dave Fernandez continued his great play beating Hernandez after putting a 5 pack on him. Zuglan continued to go though the losers side and when Sambajon sent Fernandez to the one loss side he returned to the hot seat for the second week in a row. Mike Zuglan made easy work out of Dave Fernandez who had his best tournament ever on the joss tour. Zuglan and Santos met for the finals and Santos who has not lost a match in two events in a row was not going to start now. After going back and forth to 4-4 Santos just did everything right and wound up winning 9-5'
