Libby wins second straight Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Series

Greg Libby chalked up his second straight victory on the Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Series tour on Sunday, October 23, and for the second week in a row, he did it by going undefeated. On October 16, Libby faced Stan Rupard twice; once in the hot seat and again, in the finals. This time out, though he faced Rupard again in the hot seat, it was Nick Conner that he faced twice; once, among the winners' side final four, and then, in the finals. The $500-added event drew 28 entrants to Legends Billiards in Portsmouth, NH.

Libby dominated the first of his two against Conner, sending him to the loss-side with a 6-1 victory. He'd defeated Conner in the same position, and by the same score the previous week. Libby was joined in the battle for the hot seat by Rupard, who'd just sent Dan Simoneau west in a double hill match. Rupard got locked up in a second straight double hill match that eventually sent him to the semifinals, and left Libby, for the second week in a row, in the hot seat.

Conner moved over to take on Dan Gobbie, who'd gotten by Ivo Petrov 5-6 and Gill Stadig 7-3 to reach him. Simoneau drew Eric Firkey, who'd defeated Josh Rupard 7-3, and Mike Nicaloro 7-4. Identical 7-4 scores then sent Conner and Firkey to the quarterfinals, where the week previously, Conner's bid had ended versus Gareth Steele. This time, Conner ended Firkey's day with a 7-5 win to get in to the semifinals.

Conner spoiled the second straight finals re-match between Libby and Rupard with a 7-2 win over Rupard in those semifinals. Libby, though, wrapped up his second straight, undefeated stop on the Lucasi Hybrid New England 9-Ball Series tour with a 5-3 victory in the finals.
