Souquet wins Japan Cup

With an 11-5 win over Efren Reyes in the finals, Ralf Souquet has won the 6th Japan Cup.

Souquet started the day with an 11-5 win over Kiyoshi Suzuki, then followed that win up with a victory over Francisco Bustamante who had just eliminated Thorsten Hohmann 11-8.

Meanwhile, Efren Reyes was defeating Young Hwa Jeong 11-3 and then Syuji Nagata. The win over Jeong was Reyes 4th straight win over Jeong.

The final match between Souquet and Reyes was close early, as the players were tied at 1-1 and 2-2 before Souquet took a 4-2 lead. The players traded the next four games for a 6-4 Souquet lead, before Souquet won three in a row to go up 9-4. Reyes won the next rack to get back to 9-5, but Souquet won the next two games for the final win and the title.
