Leroy Bryant repeats Tidewater win

Leroy Bryant held his victory on the Tidewater Amateur 9-Ball Tour as he took his second win in a row on October 16, 2004 at Sharks-N-Shooters in Rocky Mount, N.C. His win did not come easy as in his second round he found himself on the west side of the bracket. Joe Whaley, making his debut at the event and an avid player did not let being in his 60's deter him as he was the one who sent Bryant to the one loss side and made his way to the finals.

Whaley met up with veteran tour player Robert Ray for the hot seat match. The two players traded games back and forth. Whaley looked to be really in stroke when the score was 6-5 in his favor in the race to 7 match, but when Ray brought the game on the hill it was anybody's guess. Whaley continued his stroke and sank the final 9 ball to take the match.

Bryant was busy on the one loss side moving steadily along. Bryant and Steve Page met for the quaterfinals but Bryant left Page in 4th place with a 5-3 score. In the semifinals Bryant met Ray and proved that Bryant was determined to stay in game as he put Ray in 3rd place with an easy win 5-1.

The finals were now Bryant against Whaley in a rematch. Even though Whaley had beat Bryant the first time Bryant was determined to win this race to 9 match. Bryant took an early lead 3-0. Whaley and Bryant traded games back and forth but Bryant maintained a two game lead till he pulled ahead again for a 9-6 victory.
