Putnam Takes Point At ‘Revenge Tournament’

Shawn Putnam

With an 11-8 win over Tony Robles, Shawn Putnam took the hot-seat at the North American Open Tour Stop at The Hilton in Pittsburgh.

The win over Robles was another win over a top ranked player for Putnam this week in what Putnam has dubbed his 'revenge tournament'. "I decided before this tournament started that I was going to get revenge on everyone that had beaten me in tournaments before." said Putnam. Putnam went on to list the players that he has beaten this week and the times they have beaten him, "Rodney beat me in Reno and Atlanta, Tony beat me in Atlanta, Jeremy beat me in Reno".

Robles will now take on his buddy Charlie Williams, who eliminated Mike Davis 11-7. Williams has bounced back nicely from an 11-8 loss to Thorsten Hohmann in round two and has scored 8 straight wins including wins over Luc Salvas, Danny Basavich, Corey Deuel and Santos Sambajon. If Williams can get by Robles, he will take on Putnam in the finals.

When asked about his prior record against Williams, Putnam admitted that they had never played each other before.
