Corr scores first Joss Tour win

The Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour held a $3000 added stop this weekend at Ultimate Billiards Club in Berlin, CT. Ultimate Billiards Club is a beautiful new room in the area, featuring 21 Diamond tables, a full bar and a great menu.

Forecasts of a winter storm in the area, kept the field down to 39 men and 2 women. It was the women that made the most noise at this stop though.

Falcon Cue representative Karen Corr started Sunday's action undefeated and squared off against Larry Lisciotti. Corr's undefeated run looked in jeopardy as Lisciotti cruised to an 8-3 lead in the match. Lisciotti would not score the 9th game in this set though, as Corr won 6 in a row to win the match 9-8.

This set up the match for the hot seat where Corr fell to BCA Hall of Fame member Jim Rempe 9-5. Rempe would then take the hot-seat to await his opponent in the finals.

Corr's opponent on the one loss side was Tom D'Alfonso who had just eliminated former world champion Julie Kelly in the match before. Kelly was also playing great this weekend with back to back 9-8 wins over Rich Ross and Larry Lisciotti. Corr would fall behind D'Alfonso 6-2 but a miscue by D'Alfonso in game 9 allowed Corr back into the match, which she won 9-8.

This set up the finals where Corr would have to defeat Meucci Cue representative, Rempe twice for the tournament win. Corr matched Rempe's 9-5 victory from their previous match to set up the 2nd set, and Corr duplicated the 9-5 score in the final set for her first Joss Tour victory.

Corr collected $1700 for first, while Rempe settled for $1200. D'Alfonso and Kelly filled out the top four spots.
