Tatnall Tops Fury Field

Chris Tatnall went undefeated through a small but talented field at the Fury Amateur 9-ball tour stop at Game Time/Riptide in Greenville, South Carolina on June 25. 2005. Room owner Jimmy Hodges rolled out the red carpet for the players at his huge complex making for another successful event.

During the player's meeting, everyone in the room took a moment to pay tribute to Bob King who suffered a heart attack and passed away two days prior to the event. Bob was a regular at Game Time and often played on the Fury tour when it came to Greenville.

Once play began, the players were focused on 9-ball and the action was non-stop for the remainder of the day. Chris Tatnall worked his way to the hot seat match with a 21-14 overall record over Archie Ranew, Steve Cox, and JoJo Ferguson. Ferguson?s loss sent him all the way to the left side of the bracket to try again in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Brian Bagwell suffered a first round hill-hill loss at the hands of Steve Cox. Undaunted, Bagwell then sliced through the west side with a 25-9 record over Jeff Stratton, Steve Jennings, Steve Cox, T.F. Whittington, and Ferguson. That set up the final match up of the day between bracket winners Tatnall and Bagwell.

Bagwell got a quick two game lead in the race to nine, then traded games with Tatnall until the score evened up at 4-4. Bagwell took the next two to gain a 6-4 lead, but Tatnall came right back. Solid shot making by Tatnall, and a couple of tough rolls for Bagwell, sent Chris on a five game run to close out the match with a 9-6 score.

The Fury Georgia division returns to Mr. Cues II in Atlanta on Sunday, August 21, 2005 for their next event.
