Pagulayan eliminated at WPC

Vilmos Foldes

On day two of the single elimination stages at the World Pool Championship, Alex Pagulayan joined the long list of top talent that will be forced to watch the rest of the event from the stands.

Pagulayan fell victim to Vilmos Foldes, a 20 year old former junior champion from Hungary. It was anyone's guess who would come out on top of the match with Pagulayan, but a mistake by the former champion at 8-8 led to Foldes taking the 10-8 win.

One former champion who survived to play in round three was Mika Immonen. Immonen trailed in his match against Kunihiko Takahashi 8-2 and looked to be done, but that was before Immonen reeled off eight straight games and took the match 10-8. After a comeback like that, Immonen could be considered one of the favorites in the event.

Another big favorite is Marlon Monalo, who rolled to a 10-0 win over Chien-Che Huang on Thursday. Manalo will face Huang's countryman Ying-chieh Chen on Friday.
