Rousey captures Great Lakes Tour Finale

Sarah Rousey, Mark Hammerl owner of Billiards on Main and Julia Gabriel

A field of 22 players braved the 103 degree heat to compete in the season finale of the Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour at Billiards On Main in Galesburg, IL.

The early favorite in this one was definitely #23 ranked WPBA Touring pro Sarah Rousey. Rousey, however, found herself on the wrong end of a 7-4 match with Julia Gabriel on Saturday and would have to fight her way through the one-loss side.

After the win over Rousey, Gabriel made her way to the hot-seat with a 7-4 win over Angela Mears. At the same time, Rousey's tournament looked to be over as she trailed Great Lakes Tour points leader Julie Melman 6-2 on the one-loss side. Rousey showed her determination though, and rallied back to win the match 7-6.

Rousey went on to defeat Angela Mears 7-3 on the one-loss side to earn a rematch with Gabriel in the finals.

Rousey took control of the final match early and rushed to a 2-0 lead. Gabriel fought back, but Rousey was able to hold her off on the way to a 9-4 win.

Rousey earned $455 for the win, while Gabriel took home $280 in addition to the WPBA Midwest Classic qualifier. Mears and Melman filled out the top four spots.

The Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour will kick off their next season on September 10th and 11th at Hall Of Fame Billiards in Warren MI with a $1000 added WPBA qualifier.
