Vilmont scores second straight All American Tour Win

Chad Vilmont

The sixteenth stop of the 2005/2006 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance - ACS) - titled 'March Madness' - featured a $500-added purse and seventeen players hosted by owner David VanMatre and director Mike Brubaker at Rich's Roadhouse in Freeport, Illinois, on Saturday, March 18. The event featured double-elimination 9-ball on 7-foot Valley bar boxes. Chad Vilmont of Clinton, Iowa - rated an '8' on a regional handicap system used - marched undefeated through the winner's bracket, defeating Mike Lyght (Dubuque, IA) in the loser's bracket semi-finals and Rich Mager (Aurora, IL) in the winner's bracket finals, 8-4. Carlos McGill (Beloit, WI) lost his first match and won seven consecutive matches - including a victory over Iowa Bob (Rockford, IL) 6-4 in the loser's bracket semi-finals and Rich Mager 6-5 in the loser's bracket finals - through the loser's bracket to match-up with Vilmont in the title match. Chad Vilmont emphatically made his stake for the crown in the first set, eliminating Carlos McGill 8-2!

By virtue of being the highest-finishing ACS member, Chad Vilmont won his second straight Tour stop and qualified for a second free entry into either the 2006 ACS National 8-Ball Championships or the 2006 ACS National 9-Ball Championships - courtesy of the ACS.
