Kennedy undefeated after Florida Benefit Day One

Tommy Kennedy

Thursday play is complete at the First Annual Relay for Life 9-Ball Invitational Charity Benefit at Capones Billiards in Spring Hill Florida and the field has now been narrowed to just eight players.

Two of the players still fighting for first place were not even part of the event a week ago. Tommy Kennedy, who filled in for Tony Drago, is still undefeated after wins over Marcus Chamat and Mika Immonen on Thursday. Kennedy will face Johnny Archer on Friday. On the one loss side, David Broxson ended Thursday with wins over Ralf Souquet and Charlie Williams to earn the right to face Nick Varner on Friday. Broxson made his way in the event by winning the regular Tuesday night tournament at Capones after Thorsten Hohmann was forced to back out of attending the event due to a death in the family.

Another $1675 was raised on Thursday from fans purchasing pictures of the pros and purchasing raffle tickets. Combined with the $12,500 donated by Robert and LeAnn Sapp and other moneys raised, the total so far is just over $21,000 raised So far.

Online brackets are updated with all match results from Thursday and we have a photo gallery from Diana Hoppe who is at the event.
