Lewis Takes a North Florida Win

For its 7th stop of the season The Kings Bay Promotions Adrenaline North Florida Tour held their event at Uncle Waldo's in South Daytona, FL o June 4, 2006. The players were excited about the event once they arrived and realized that the owner had several new 9' tables installed giving the players 7 tables to play on. The event didn't bring a very large field but the play was exceptional and showed that they were ready for the competition.

Newcomer to the tour, Scott Stone was put to the test with match ups against a lot of the regular tour players. In his first match his opponent was Johnny Reeves and Stone showed he was there to play by sending Reeves to the west side. This did not deter Reeves as he fought his way through the losers bracket to meet up with Stone again in the quarterfinal match after the young gun of the tour Josh Lewis sent him west side. Stone really showed his playing ability as once he was in the one lost side he left Ellen Van Buren in 5th with a score of 5-3 and Reeves in 4th in a 5-2 match. Reeves has just defeated Julio Delpozo 5-4 leaving him in 6th place. Stone after defeating Reeves was faced with another victim of Lewis's Mike Cerenero who lost the hot seat match to Lewis. Stone and Cerenero bothe wanted another chance at Lewis but it was a 5-2 victory that sent Cernero to face Lewis and leave Stone in 3rd place. Stone was still excited about the tour and the tournament but military obligations will not allow him to participate in as many events as he would like. Still for his first stop with the tour we will be looking forward to seeing him again.

Once Lewis defeated Cernero in the hot seat he had a chance to sit back and watch the competition. This might have paid off in the long run for Lewis since he once again faced Cernero in the one race to 9 finals. As the spectators looked on the match started was neck and neck from the beginning as the score quickly climbed to 2-2. Josh got the next 2 games but Cernero worked hard bringing the score 4-4 and then taking the next game. Lewis with his skill too the next 3 games bringing the score now 8-5, but his opponent wasn't down for the count yet as he managed to take another game now bringing the score 8-6. Lewis was true to his nickname that the tour owner Kay Higgins had placed on him as "The Young Gun" by sharp shooting his way to victory with the last game.
