Stan James Edmonton Day One

Rob Phillips had to survive two double-hill matches to do it but still remains undefeated after the first day in Edmonton. Only sixteen players remain out of the seventy that began the day. Phillips had the toughest day on the winner's side of the brackets. Edwin Montal, last years Tour Champion, cruised past his opponents while Mike Vidas never had anyone get past five games to threaten him.

Glenn Cameron, Paul English, Kevin Cardinal, Claire Gauthier and Rick Leon join those names on the winner's side. All of these players still have both barrels left and can afford a loss without being cast from the tournament.

Those on the sudden death side face a more stressful day on Sunday. Any loss will end the trip for Roger Colbert, Paul Potier, Bill Ganne, Tyler Edey, Stan Tourangeau, Duane Demas, Brady Gollan and Gary Hauk. All of the players returning on Sunday are in the money now and are fighting amongst themselves not only for prize money but also for the coveted tour points.

This stop is being played at the Cue Club where Lisa Brodie and staff have gone the extra mile to please the players with buffet meals and a sea of smiles for everyone. Our thanks go out to them for their efforts.
