John Smith Wins Illinois All American Tour Stop

John Smith, Owner Miguel Terrazas and Chad Hefke

The twenty-first stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) featured a $500 added purse with thirty-three players and was hosted by owner Miguel Terrazas and tournament director Ron Zech at Rudy's Place in Aurora, Illinois, on Saturday, February 10. The event included a double-elimination 8-ball format on bar boxes, and John Smith (N. Aurora, IL) ran undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Smith sprinted past Bob Romano (Homer Glen, IL) 5-2. Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Smith had out pointed Chad Hefke (Aurora, IL) 5-2, while Bob Romano knocked off Mark Rudolph (Chicago, IL) 5-3. In the B-side quarterfinals, Mark Rudolph clipped Rich Mager (Earlsville, IL) 5-4, and Chad Hefke knocked out Ben Garcia (Aurora, IL) 5-1. Hefke then ousted Rudolph 5-1 in the B-side semis, and he continued on in the B-side finals to eliminate Romano 5-4. John Smith continued his dominance in the tourney finals, defeating Chad Hefke 5-1 for the title!

By virtue of 1st-place John Smith being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.
