Jeannie Seaver Wins Spirit Tour Season Opener

Jeannie Seaver

The Ladies Spirit Tour kicked off their 2007 season with a field of 39 players at Hammer Heads Billiard Lounge in Holiday, Florida. The field included the usual batch of Florida talent with a couple added players looking for that ever valuable WPBA qualifier. Those players included Rachael Abbink and Miyuki Sakai, who are currently calling Florida home, as well as Dutch Straight Pool Champion Tamara Rademakers.

As play got going on Saturday, it was Jeannie Seaver, Bonnie Coats and Tracie Hines making their way through the winners side. Rademakers lost a close 7-5 decision on Saturday to end up on the one loss side. Abbink quickly found herself on the one loss side after a loss to Debbie Schjodt.

The winners side came down to Seaver and Coats on Sunday with Seaver scoring a 7-3 win to take the hot-seat.

On the one loss side, Coats faced off against Rademakers for WPBA Great Lakes Classic Qualifier. This match went to hill-hill before Coats pulled it out to send Rademakers back to Holland in third place.

In the true double elimination finals, Coats scores a 7-6 win in the first set to force one more match to determine the final winner. Both players appeared to be struggling in the second set as they were unable to take any real control of the match. With the score tied at 2-2, the players took a break to gather themselves. The split the next two games for a 3-3 score, but Seaver then took control and won four straight games for the 7-3 win.

The Ladies Spirit Tour wanted to thank room owners Dan and Nora Lavoie for hosting a great event as well as the tour's title sponsor Olhausen Billiards, Cue Sponsor McDermott Cues and Tiger Products for supporting the tour this year.
