Paul Song Victorious in Athens Georgia

Paul Song

Brass Rail Billiards in Athens, Georgia hosted the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour's latest event the weekend of August 4-5, 2007, with tournament directors Mike Janis and Billy Ulrich at the helm. The event was a $1000 added open with a field of sixty-one players narrowing down on Saturday to only twelve to return on Sunday to battle for the win. Those players on the winners side of the bracket included Bruce Berrong, Louis McDaniel, the Viking Tour's very own Mike Janis, Shane Wade, Floyd Reasons, Stevie Moore, Brian White, and David “Southpaw” Shadden. On the one-loss side, Shawn Davis, Mark Rochester, Matt Bulfin, and Paul Song.

As always, the competition was fierce, but it was Paul Song that came out victorious at this venue. The path to the finals for Song was quite a long one that included wins over Matt Bulfin 7-3, Gary Matthews 7-3, and a loss to Floyd Reasons of 7-5. This sent him to the one-loss side where he encountered the likes of and ultimately won against Sam Brannen 5-0, T.F. Whittington 5-0, Mike Janis, Bruce Berrong 5-3, Steve Moore 5-3, Shane Wade 5-4, and Louis McDaniel 5-1. Song and Brian White kept the crowd on their toes as they clashed in the true double elimination finals, but Song pulled out the win with final scores of 7-6 and 5-3.
