Number 50 for Fisher

Allison Fisher

Allison Fisher has won her second title of the 2007 season, as well as her 50th career title on the WPBA tour at the WPBA US Open 9-Ball Championship August 1st – 5th in Lincoln, RI.

Fisher started this campaign with a dominating 9-3 win over road warrior Rachael Abbink, followed by a hill-hill scare against Tracie Hines. A 9-6 win over Vivian Villarreal got Fisher into the re-draw for the final sixteen players where she drew Villarreal again. This time, the result was 9-4 in Fisher’s favor.

Next up was Jennifer Barretta in one of the TV matches. Fisher took a quick 2-0 lead and kept control to go ahead 5-2 and cruise to a 7-3 win.

Fisher’s semifinal match against Ga-Young Kim saw Kim take a 1-0 lead before Fisher took complete control for a 6-2 lead and 7-3 win.

Allison Fisher’s opponent in the finals would be Kelly Fisher. Kelly was also undefeated with wins over Debbie Schjodt, Janet Atwell, Tiffany Nelson, Laura Smith, Xiao-Ting Pan and Kim Shaw on her way to the finals.

The final match could not have been more even as the players were tied at 1-1, 2-2 and 3-3 before Allison crept out to a 5-3 lead. Kelly came back with two games of her own to tie the score at 5-5 and then got to the hill first at 6-5. The tournament looked to be over with Kelly running out in the twelfth rack, but a scratch late in the game gave control back to Allison who won that rack for a 6-6 score.

A safety battle after the break was won by Allison, who ran out the last rack for career win #50.
